Barium Aspiration

A 70-year-old lady underwent a barium swallow for investigation of dysphagia and unfortunately aspirated a large quantity of contrast material, which dramatically illuminated the airspaces (Figure 1A). The patient received supportive care, chest physiotherapy and prophylactic antibiotics.
