Abstract
The start of revalidation for doctors in the United Kingdom in 2012, based on Good Medical Practice1 and a conclusion by annual appraisal that a doctor is ‘up-to-date and fit to practice’, raises important issues for educational leaders in primary care. These include consideration of the purpose of revalidation; what is being assessed; and how can doctors best be prepared for it?
