Abstract: Understanding and practising evidence-based medicine is crucial in delivering optimal patient care in Plastic Surgery. It can be incredibly challenging for Plastic Surgeons with a demanding clinical workload to keep up to date with research and regulatory advances within the field. This is particularly difficult given the rate of development across such a vast surgical specialty. In this editorial, provided by the research and educational leads of PLASTA and BAPRAS, landmark articles and guidelines have been summarised to provide an overview of the key advances in Plastic Surgery over the past 12 months. This is not an exhaustive list but should act as a highly efficient resource for all Plastics Surgeons looking for an annual synopsis of clinical developments within their speciality. Topics have been divided into 8 subcategories: Breast Surgery, Burns, Cleft and Craniofacial, Cosmetic/Aesthetics, Hand, Head and Neck, Peripheral Nerve and Skin Cancer.
