Abstract
Knee arthroscopy is one of the commonest elective day case orthopaedic procedures performed worldwide. The incidence of this procedure is 9.9 per 10,000 in England [1]. Day surgery of such a high volume usually has a highly standardized regime of care, however a survey of Swedish and German Orthopaedic surgeons on knee arthroscopy revealed huge variations in practice [2,3]. The aim of this web-based survey was to understand the current practices in elective knee arthroscopy among the members of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK), with a focus on routine antibiotic and venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis.
