UK Disability History Month 2024

Published Date: 21st November 2024

The theme for this year’s UK Disability History Month is Disability, Livelihood and Employment.

To find out more about the history of disabled people in employment, statistics on disabled people in the workforce, legislation for disabled people in the workplace, and much more, have a look at the UK Disability Month Website: https://ukdhm.org/.

To find out more about the disability support available for staff and students, take a look at the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Intranet pages: https://intranet.sthk.nhs.uk/extranet/circle/eb2c15f47322768e3858f82bae3af303.

Here you’ll find information on the Trust’s Reasonable Adjustments policy and Flexible working policies and who to contact about them, as well as information on the Access to Work initiative and the Abilities@MWL Staff Network.

In the Library at Nightingale House, we have a collection of books and list of resources to support staff with disabilities and chronic conditions, or to help anyone supporting friends, family or colleagues with these issues. Find out more here: https://www.knowledge-nw.nhs.uk/abilities@mwl.

We also have a brand-new collection of books available called ‘Life Stories’. These books are by and about people living and working with a variety of conditions and disabilities and are available to loan from the library now!
