Want to get away from it all for a little while?

Why not try escaping into a book?

The library doesn’t just have medical books. We have a leisure reading collection full of novels and non-fiction for you to try. Pop in to see us in the library and have a look at our leisure reading shelves or you can check out what leisure reading books we have available here https://bit.ly/STHKRecreationBooks

Want more choice, or prefer to read e-books or listen to audiobooks? Why not try signing up to your local public library and using their BorrowBox service to download books onto your phone or tablet or listen to an audiobook? Or if you would prefer, you can also use BorrowBox to read a wide range of online magazines.

Anyone who lives or works in St Helens or Knowsley can sign up online for a digital library account. {Hint - St Helens & Knowsley staff are all eligible }

You can then download the BorrowBox App (via GooglePlay or the AppStore) and use your library login to borrow e-books and audiobooks free of charge. The app is easy to use – if the book you want is out on loan you can reserve it, you can see what books you have borrowed and what you have already read or listened to, and the search features allow you to find books in your favourite genre or look up books by your favourite authors.

Sign up for a digital public library account here:

  • Knowsley Public Library Service:
    If you are not already registered for this service, you can create an account by emailing your name, address, and postcode to yourlibrary@knowsley.gov.uk requesting access to the BorrowBox service.
  • St Helens Public Library Service: https://sthlibraries.koha-ptfs.co.uk/cgi-bin/koha/opac-memberentry.pl
    Fill in the online form, selecting the library nearest where you live or work.
    You will receive an email with your BorrowBox log in details within two working days.
